About Zoë
I grew up on a small lake in Minnesota with a canoe paddle in my hands and cross-country skis on my feet. My passion for the outdoors was instilled at a young age and has followed me through life.
I enjoy introducing others to the great outdoors, fostering community relationships, and organizing events.
In my free time I enjoy taking long walks with my chocolate lab, working with my hands, and exploring new places.

Projects
The following are some examples of my work in parks and recreation both professionally and as a part of my education at the University of Minnesota.
Benefit Volleyball Tournament Summer 2016
As Recreation Coordinator of Corcoran, MN I planned, promoted, facilitated, and evaluated a benefit volleyball tournament as a part of Corcoran's summer festival, Corcoran Country Daze. Despite a very rainy day, all registered teams showed up and played some very competitive coed grass 4's. The event made a small profit and was a great addition to the festival. After the event I administered surveys to determine how to improve the event for years to come.
Corcoran Night to Unite
Corcoran is a rural outer ring suburb of Minneapolis that is just coming into its own. In Corcoran, your nearest neighbor is often acres away. This makes organizing Night to Unite parties an exciting challenge. The city and its police department decided that the best course of action was to encourage neighborhood parties in the more concentrated areas of Corcoran and hosting a city wide party at Corcoan Public Works for all those without a neighborhood party to attend. I worked closely with the Corcoran Police Department to organize the Night to Unite events within the city.
BIC One Design Race Series Summer 2014 and 2015
For two summers I planned, promoted, facilitated, and evaluated the Bic One Design Race Series for Midwest Mountaineering. The Race Series is sponsored by BIC Sports and is designed to get people out on Stand up Paddle boards and having fun. Each summer Midwest Mountaineering hosted 4 races. I was in charge of promoting the events to gather participants as well as facilitating the race from the beach and managing staff members. I also surveyed participants to measure the success of the events and gather ideas to keep the program running.
Inspiration
I draw inspiration from many sources: nature, art, music, trailblazers.
